Our close creative partner Matthias Hollwich, the Principal Founder of the acclaimed architecture firm HWKN, reached out in 2012 with the awesome news that they had won the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program. He asked if I would join them on this massive installation and the answer, of course, was YES. One problem and question came up the next day: how do we actually do this? Thus began the 6 weeks of prototyping, creative design, and brilliant engineering. Then, with only 6 weeks, we began to create a mythical structure. Nothing is as fun as building a massive lightning tower in a summer full of lightning storms, day after day. But fun is fun, right? The end result was bringing this to life!
